We were invited last week to celebrate International Day at Church hill Nursery. We made head dress masks of Lions and Zebras of East Africa, adorned with textiles, Okri shells and paints.
The children had read Handa’s Surprise, an story about a little Kenyan girl whose basket of fruit is stolen by different animals on her journey. They were familiar with East African textiles, animals and the habitat. So we thought it fitting to contribute to further learning about more Kenyan animals.
It was a lot of fun, I love the way each animal has its own character. A few Zebras made tails too! Enjoy the photos.
