Material list for stain glass picture of a Tiger

You can make a no mess stain glass effect picture to fit within your window pane at home. We would like you to take part in this months activity

 You will need:

  •  Black/dark paper- x 2or, 3 any size that’s a4 and larger. x1 or 2 sheets for ripping and x1 sheet to be made into a picture frame.  The frame can be any size but, should not be larger than your window pane. Black paper makes the outline of shapes needed for this project. If you’re expecting to make more than one stain glass picture then you’ll need more than 3 sheets.

  • Baking paper- a size that will fit onto the frame you have made above. Plus extra to colour or collage onto. NOTE: Preferably WHITE baking paper. I have found out some shops sell brown baking paper, which is not so transluscent.

  • Pritt stick

  • Sellotape/masking tape

  • Scissors

  • Coloured tissue papers. colours for the Tiger fur and eyes. Orange/brown/yellow/blue/green. An alternative to tissue paper is stated below.

Alternative to cutting and sticking with tissue paper use wax crayon- an assortment, including orange/brown/blue/yellow.

We will work on a table. It’s difficult to visualise on translucent baking paper, please have a light or dark paper/table covering to place underneath.

Additional tools or materials, that are not essential but could help:

  • Hole puncher (of any shape),

  • Make silhouette shapes of animals/insects/foliage in the black paper in advance.

  • Use coloured sellophane.

  •  Felt tips (in vivd colours that work best on baking paper)

An assortment of tissue paper colours can be used to extend ideas for your stain glass picture. Cut some into squares, circles, leaf shapes.
