Barbican Family film club pre screen workshop: Moomins and the Midsummer Madness (U)

  • The Barbican cinema Beech Street London EC2Y 8DS uk (map)

This screening is fully booked. Information and details here:

Please come along to the free workshop making Moomin flower crowns. Tove Jansson loved wearing a flower crown, so in celebration of the magical time of year ( summer solstice) and also the wonderful writer and illustrator Jansson, who is styling her head band below, we will spread a little Moomin magic.

About the event:

The familiar felt animated family based on the characters of Tove Jansson are back and ready to embark a magical adventure!

To celebrate Midsummer Day, we’re screening this delightful animation that follows the Moomins as they escape a volcano, take refuge from floods and Moominpapa begins to write a play.

But as the midsummer’s eve approaches the family gets separated and no one knows if Moomintroll and Snorkmaiden will be reunited with the others in time to perform.

This sweet and gentle stop-motion, perfectly captures the spirit of the original story and is an enchanting introduction for littl’uns to these classic characters.

Come along at 10am for a free pre-film workshop, where you can celebrate Midsummer’s Day by making your own Moomin inspired paper flower crown with Scribble and Smudge!
